Hidden Gems of La Mancha: The Renaissance Palace of Viso del Marqués
Who could believe that in the middle of the arid lands of La Mancha one could find an amazing Renaissance Palace? If I would ask you about Mr Alvaro de Bazan, the first Santa Cruz Marquis, who lived between 1526 and 1588, you would probably keep silent, but I mention the Battle of Lepanto, where a European Army defeated the Ottoman Empire, then probably the perspective would be different.
Mr Bazan was the Spanish Admiral and he needed a headquarters in the center of Spain to get faster to any ports where his command was needed, so he ordered a magnificent palace which can be today visited in a small village called Viso del Marqués, surrounded by thousands of olive trees. Fancy a visit?
